According to reports and a video circulating on social media, Ogala collapsed earlier in the day and was immediately taken to the medical facility for treatment.
The actress later confirmed the incident in a post on Instagram, assuring supporters and well-wishers that her condition had stabilised.
“I was rushed to FMC Umuahia. I lost consciousness. Glory to God I am stabilised now,” she wrote while sharing a video from the hospital.
Footage posted online showed Ogala seated in a wheelchair as she interacted with patients and hospital staff during her stay at the facility.
The video also captured moments in which she prayed with patients receiving treatment at the hospital.
The Doris Ogala Health Scare comes weeks after the actress emerged as the African Action Congress candidate for the Abia State governorship election scheduled for 2027.
Following her emergence, Ogala declared her intention to challenge incumbent Governor Alex Otti, promising a campaign centred on economic growth, job creation and people-focused governance.
News of her hospitalisation quickly generated widespread reactions across social media platforms.
While some users commended her interaction with patients and described the gesture as compassionate, others expressed scepticism about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Several commentators questioned whether the episode was connected to her political ambitions, with some suggesting it was a publicity move, citing her background in the film industry.
Others focused on her wellbeing, wishing her a speedy recovery and urging her to prioritise her health.
As of Friday evening, neither Ogala nor her campaign team had released additional details regarding the cause of the medical emergency.
