Davido urges Nigerians to speak out on insecurity after heated exchange with Dauda Rarara over his advocacy on abducted schoolchildren

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has insisted that Nigerians must not remain silent on insecurity, following a heated exchange with Hausa singer Dauda Rarara over his advocacy at a global event.

The disagreement stems from Davido’s appearance at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Countdown Concert in Los Angeles, where he wore a customised jacket bearing the inscription “Bring Them Home” alongside the names of abducted schoolchildren and teachers from Oyo State.

Rarara had criticised the gesture, describing it as inappropriate and alleging that it risked damaging Nigeria’s international image, while questioning the political motivations behind it.

In a video response, Rarara argued that sensitive national security issues should not be projected internationally in a way that could be misinterpreted or politicised.

The exchange escalated on social media after Davido responded in Hausa with remarks directed at Rarara, further intensifying the public debate.

In a follow-up statement, Davido maintained that speaking out on insecurity is a civic responsibility and not an act of political opposition.

He argued that Nigerians who care about the country must not ignore insecurity or discourage others from raising concerns about it.

Davido also criticised what he described as prioritising political interests over national welfare, urging citizens to place truth and patriotism above partisan loyalty.

The singer’s comments have continued to generate widespread reactions online, reflecting growing national sensitivity around insecurity and public advocacy.
