Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh on Sunday, 9 August 2026, announced the launch of the New Wine Prophetic Tabernacle in Nigeria, introducing the new spiritual movement as an interdenominational gathering centred on prayer, revival and what she described as a deeper experience of Christian faith.

Dikeh made the announcement through her social media platform, presenting New Wine Prophetic Tabernacle, known as NWPT, as a movement rather than a conventional church. The ministry’s weekly fellowship is scheduled for Fridays at 6:00pm in Abuja.

The actress described NWPT as “a global movement of consecrated believers called to experience the raw power, purity, and presence of God”, drawing its name and guiding message from Mark 2:22.

The ministry’s stated vision is to encourage a global awakening of believers committed to prayer, spiritual gifts, soul winning and what its founders describe as transformation through the Holy Spirit.

Dikeh also made a distinction between the new movement and a traditional church structure.

“This is not a church; it is an intense gathering of those consecrated and equipped for the purposes of God,” she said in the announcement.

According to details reported after the launch, the Friday gatherings will take place at Omini Grand Hotel, formerly Alexis Hotel, near Masalachi Junction in Jabi, Abuja.

The launch represents a notable new chapter in Dikeh’s increasingly public expression of her Christian faith.

The actress has in recent months adopted the name “Ada El-Roi” in several of her social media posts and has been associated with Pastor Jerry Eze’s New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations community.

In December 2025, Dikeh gave a public testimony during a service at Streams of Joy International Church, where she spoke about what she described as her deliverance from smoking, alcohol addiction, masturbation and longstanding anger issues.

Dikeh said she began smoking at the age of 13 and had struggled with the habit for 27 years. She credited her spiritual transformation to what she described as divine intervention.

The testimony offered an important backdrop to her subsequent public shift towards a more overtly faith-centred identity.

Dikeh’s personal journey has also unfolded alongside significant changes in other areas of her life.

In January 2026, Dikeh announced that she had reconciled with her former husband, businessman Olakunle Churchill, after years of public conflict.

She described the reconciliation as a restoration following what she characterised as a decade of bitterness, broken communication and pain.

Churchill subsequently confirmed the reconciliation and spoke about reconnecting with their son, King Andre. He said he was deeply moved when the child called him “Daddy” for the first time.

That reconciliation, together with Dikeh’s public testimony and increasing involvement in Christian activities, provides a broader context for the launch of NWPT.

The actress’s public life has previously extended beyond entertainment.

In 2022, Dikeh entered Nigerian politics as the running mate to the African Democratic Congress governorship candidate in Rivers State, adding another chapter to a career that has moved between acting, philanthropy, politics and public advocacy.

The New Wine Prophetic Tabernacle now adds another significant dimension to that journey.

For Dikeh, the emphasis appears to be less on establishing another conventional worship centre and more on creating what she describes as an altar for believers seeking spiritual renewal.

NWPT says its mission includes building an interdenominational platform for prayer, revival and apostolic training, while equipping believers and encouraging evangelism.

The ambitious language surrounding the movement has already generated public discussion, with reactions online ranging from support for Dikeh’s spiritual direction to scepticism about celebrities entering religious leadership.

For now, Dikeh has positioned the new ministry around faith, consecration and transformation, marking a striking evolution in the public image of one of Nollywood’s most recognisable personalities.
