The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has extended the deadline for candidates offered admission from 2021 to 2026 to accept or reject their outstanding admission offers, giving affected applicants until Wednesday, September 30, 2026, to make a decision.

The new deadline replaces the earlier August 31 deadline and provides additional time for candidates who have yet to respond to admission offers on their JAMB profiles.

JAMB said candidates who accept their outstanding offers will be able to print their admission letters, while those who reject them will have their admission status reverted to “Not Admitted”.

The Board also clarified that candidates who secured admission during the 2026 admission exercise but still have an earlier outstanding offer can reject the previous offer without affecting their new admission.

According to JAMB, candidates who are currently studying at another institution or enrolled in a different programme from the one attached to their outstanding admission may also accept the earlier offer and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion where necessary.

The extension is expected to help candidates who may have overlooked their earlier admission offers or were unable to complete the required process before the initial deadline.

However, JAMB stressed that September 30 is the final deadline and that no further extension will be granted after its expiration.

“There will be no further opportunity after the expiration of the extended deadline on Wednesday, 30 September 2026,” the Board stated.

JAMB urged all affected candidates to log into their profiles and take the necessary action before the deadline.

Candidates who fail to accept or reject their outstanding offers by September 30 will automatically have those offers reverted to “Not Admitted”.

The decision comes as JAMB continues efforts to streamline the admission process and ensure that admission offers issued through its Central Admissions Processing System are properly accounted for.

For candidates who have already secured a more recent admission, the clarification also provides reassurance that rejecting an older outstanding offer will not jeopardise their current placement.

The Board, however, advised affected candidates to act promptly rather than wait until the final day, particularly where corrections or deletions may subsequently be required.
