A 33-year-old man, Khuslen Saruultuya, is facing an attempted murder charge after allegedly shooting an Uber Eats driver in the buttocks in Miami, Florida.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred early Monday outside Pearl Dadeland Apartments on North Kendall Drive.
An arrest report stated that the driver had delivered food to Saruultuya’s girlfriend about an hour earlier and developed an interest in her during their brief conversation.
He returned around 3:25 a.m., hoping to see her again and possibly obtain her phone number. While heading back to his car, Saruultuya arrived in a Chevrolet Corvette.
Authorities alleged that Saruultuya pointed a handgun at the driver and ordered him to lie on the ground. After the driver complied, Saruultuya allegedly fired a shot that grazed his right buttock before striking him on the back of the head with the gun, causing a two-inch wound.
He then allegedly ordered the driver to stand, pointed the weapon at his head and threatened to kill him. His girlfriend reportedly begged him to stop as he chased the victim around the Corvette.
The injured driver later sought treatment at Baptist Health South Miami Hospital.
Investigators traced the Corvette to Saruultuya, who was subsequently arrested after the victim identified him in a photo lineup.
During a search of his apartment, deputies reportedly discovered several controlled substances, including Xanax, Adderall, oxycodone, amphetamines, ketamine, cocaine, MDMA, psilocybin mushrooms and marijuana. They also recovered 16 Cialis pills and two bags of tusi, also known as pink cocaine.
Saruultuya faces attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and nine felony drug-trafficking charges.
As of Tuesday morning, he remained in custody at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, with bond yet to be set.
