Following the disruption caused by the novel coronavirus pandemic disease on sporting activity most especially football, Chairman Nigeria Club owners Association, Barrister Isaac Danladi has deeply expressed his displeasure over the lack of football activities in the country.

Speaking on Nigeria Sports Express on Jordan FM in Lagos, the vast football administrator believed that the pandemic has done more damage to football sector in the country as well as the global economy.

“The effect of COVID-19 in the country can not be overemphasized it is a global pandemic it has savaged every sector of the world including Nigeria, it has affected every sector of the economy including the football sector in Nigeria,” he said

“The Covid19 has caused the Nigerian professional Football league to be suspended in Nigeria this suspension came as a result of the order given by the Nigerian football federation NFF”.

“It has also been followed by the Presidential Task Force for Covid19 who ask that all sporting activity in the country be suspended”

“It has really taken a toe on us because player cannot exercise, keep fit, the NPFL can not continue as it is, teams are just paying salaries for doing nothing” he lamented.

Earlier this week decision was taken by the club owners association and league management company to end the league which has been on hold since March, with club voting in the favour of the PPG format been adopted which saw Plateau United, Rivers United and Enyimba being favoured to represent in the country in CAF intercontinental championship.
