The former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has described the death of the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Council, Comrade Soji Amosun as a great shock and personal loss to him.
In his message of commiseration made available to Freelanews, Otunba Daniel described the late journalist as a very gentle and intelligent man who put all his energies into building respect to the media profession and the development of its union.
“I feel greatly shocked and pained about the sudden death of the Chairman, Ogun State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Comrade Soji Amosun,” OGD mourned.
Otunba Daniel also revealed that he had personal relationship with the departed comrade.
“To the journalists in Ogun State, Soji was their Chairman, but he was to me, a kind of an ally with whom we share some mutual confidence. A very gentle and unassuming man whose passion for the development of the journalists Union was uppermost in his heart.
“He came calling in my office just about two months ago, in what could have been our last chanced encounter, but I was unavoidably absent.
“I will miss him just like I know his family and colleagues in the Pen profession would. My heart goes out to his family and I pray that God should grant his soul great repose, and to give his family the strength to stay strong in this trying moment,” he concluded.
