Addressing state energy commissioners in Abuja, Adelabu stressed the need for unified action between state and federal regulators to preserve the integrity of the national grid.
He warned that misalignment would cause unnecessary conflict, inefficiencies, and weaken investor confidence.
“Our common goal,” he said, “is to ensure every Nigerian no matter how remote has access to reliable electricity.”
Achieving this requires regulators to harmonise standards and speak with one voice to attract private investment and accelerate electrification.
He urged state commissioners to prioritise underserved areas, promising that the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) would support them with financial and technical tools, including mini-grids and standalone systems.

Acknowledging states’ constitutional authority to shape their power markets, Adelabu emphasized that national coordination remains critical to avoiding instability across the sector.
