The Nigeria international netted the equaliser in a thrilling 1-1 draw against AC Milan at the New Balance Arena in Bergamo.
Lookman, who struggled to find his best form after a summer transfer saga, admitted he is still regaining fitness and sharpness in front of goal.
Despite this, his recent strike is a confidence-boosting moment in what has been a challenging campaign.
Speaking to DAZN Italia, Lookman said he is focused on helping the team and improving steadily.
“It’s important to be available for the team, to help the team. I’ve not been able to find form yet, physically or in front of goal, but I’ll get there eventually and this was a step forward in the right direction,” he explained.
Atalanta coach Ivan Juric praised Lookman’s determination and potential.
“He is a special type of player — in training and on the pitch, he is a sight to behold. A winner with incredible determination. We pushed him to play more than perhaps he should’ve to achieve match fitness, and today, the goal came,” Juric remarked.
With Atalanta aiming to climb higher in the Serie A table, Ademola Lookman’s contributions will be vital.
