The event, a mix of engagement, entertainment, and health-focused activities, brought together annuity customers from Lagos and its environs.
It provided a rare opportunity for direct dialogue between the insurer and its customers.
This year marks a turning point, as AIICO expands the forum beyond Lagos for the first time since inception.
The Port Harcourt edition, scheduled in the coming weeks, will cater to retirees in the South-South region, reflecting the firm’s growing annuitant base and its desire to build a truly national customer engagement platform.
Speaking at the Lagos event, Mr. Babatunde Fajemirokun, Managing Director and CEO of AIICO Insurance Plc, described the forum as “a celebration of resilience, trust, and shared journeys.”
He reassured attendees of the safety of their funds and addressed recent misinformation about annuity mismanagement.
“Your funds are secured with pension custodians under strict regulation. No individual in AIICO has access to them. This model ensures transparency and accountability,” he emphasised.
AIICO hosts Annuity Forum not only to update annuitants on industry matters but also to honour their contributions and create a sense of community.
Among the delighted attendees was His Royal Majesty, Oba Ogungbayi Akanni Wasiu, who lauded the company’s consistency, saying: “AIICO has paid me every month without fail for 15 years. I recommend it to anyone planning for retirement.”
Another participant, Mrs. Judith Chibuogwu, a recently retired nursing director, called her annuity experience “wonderful” and shared how she is already encouraging colleagues still in service to choose AIICO.
Mr. Gbenga Ilori, Executive Director, Retail Business Division, noted that over 25,000 annuitants now receive monthly disbursements exceeding ₦1.7 billion, a testament to AIICO’s growing impact in the retirement space.
“Listening to our retirees helps us innovate and improve. Expanding the forum to more regions is just the beginning,” Ilori said.
With a heritage of over 60 years, AIICO Insurance continues to build trust through initiatives like the Annuity Forum, redefining post-retirement experiences for thousands across the country.
