Over 100 terrorists were involved in the attack, leading to a significant request for air support.

According to a statement from Group Captain Kabiru Ali, Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information at the Nigerian Air Force, the operation was carried out on September 11, 2024.
The airstrikes were a response to a request for support from friendly forces who were under heavy attack.
During the mission, Nigerian Air Force assets identified and targeted the terrorists who were engaged in a fierce gunfight with security operatives.
Precision airstrikes were conducted, resulting in the neutralization of dozens of terrorists.
As of the latest reports, 28 bodies have been recovered from the targeted area, with ongoing efforts to clear additional terrorists, weapons, and burnt motorcycles.
Group Captain Ali emphasized that this operation highlights the Nigerian Air Force’s dedication to supporting other security agencies in combating banditry, terrorism, and other forms of criminal activity.
He assured the public that the Air Force will continue its efforts to ensure national security and peace.
The Shiroro Local Government Area has been notorious for banditry, with the military previously withdrawing from the area due to repeated attacks on troops.
