According to a statement released Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the accused persons were arraigned on separate defilement charges and subsequently remanded at the correctional centre pending further proceedings.

Ikenga emphasized that the Anambra State Police Command remains firmly committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable persons across the state.

“The Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, has reassured the public of his unwavering commitment to the protection of children and other vulnerable persons in the state, while also warning all offenders that such acts will not go unpunished,” the statement read.

The arraignment marks a renewed crackdown on sexual and gender-based violence in Anambra, as the police move to demonstrate zero tolerance for such crimes.
