Dr. Blessing Agbomhere, an aspirant for the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 2024 Gubernatorial Election in Edo State, has sounded the alarm over what he perceives as a nefarious plot by the party leader in the state.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole. Agbomhere alleges that Oshiomhole intends to impose Dennis Idahosa as the party’s flagbearer through undemocratic means, bypassing the will of the party members.

In a statement released from Abuja, Agbomhere, a former South-South Zonal Organising Secretary of the APC, accused Oshiomhole of orchestrating a scheme to manipulate the Edo State Primaries Committee of the party. He claimed that Oshiomhole plans to coerce the National Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, into appointing Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, as the chairman of the committee. Agbomhere alleges that Uzodinma would rig the primaries in favor of Oshiomhole’s preferred candidate, Dennis Idahosa.
The aspirant contends that Oshiomhole’s actions undermine the democratic principles upheld by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and threatens to disrupt the party’s integrity. Agbomhere insists that Edo APC will not tolerate the imposition of Idahosa, whom he describes as a “serial decampee” with a dubious past, onto the party.
Agbomhere warned that if Oshiomhole’s plot is allowed to proceed unchecked, it could lead to a crisis within the APC in Edo State, potentially resulting in a catastrophic loss in the November Governorship election. He emphasized the importance of upholding transparency and fairness in the party’s internal processes to prevent further erosion of public trust and confidence.
The aspirant called upon the APC’s National Working Committee to intervene and uphold the principles of democracy, urging them not to allow Oshiomhole to undermine the party’s integrity. Agbomhere stressed the need for a free and fair primary process that reflects the will of the party members and ensures a level playing field for all aspirants.
