Illegal dumping in Lagos triggered the arrest of a 30-year-old woman, prompting a strong warning from Tokunbo Wahab on maintaining a clean environment
Illegal dumping in Lagos has once again drawn government attention after a 30-year-old woman named Sarah was arrested this morning for discarding waste on a road median at Iyanaba.

Tokunbo Wahab, the Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, confirmed the arrest via his official X handle, stating that such behaviour directly undermines ongoing efforts to keep Lagos clean and flood-free.
“This reckless act undermines our efforts to maintain a clean and flood-free Lagos,” Wahab said.
“Let this serve as a clear warning: dumping waste on road medians or public spaces is a punishable offense. Offenders will face immediate arrest and prosecution.”
The Commissioner’s response underscores the administration’s zero-tolerance policy on indiscriminate refuse disposal, which remains a key driver in the broader campaign for environmental reform across the state.

As Lagos ramps up enforcement, residents are urged to adopt responsible waste disposal habits or face legal consequences in line with the state’s sanitation laws.
