The first session focused on drug abuse awareness. The speaker discussed how to overcome drug addiction, emphasising the importance of seeking help from professionals. Students were encouraged to visit betterhelp.com for support in dealing with any difficulties they might face. The session also covered personal hygiene for boys, offering tips on beard care and maintaining a pleasant personal scent.
The event was held within the school premises, with special appreciation extended to the school administration, teachers, and proprietor for their cooperation and support. Certificates of appreciation were presented to the proprietor and several teachers in recognition of their efforts.
After a 10-minute break for games, including “5 Seconds Rule” and “Jenga”, the second session began.
This talk focused on personal hygiene for girls, specifically addressing the menstrual cycle and managing period-related hormones. The discussion included emotional and physical health, proper pad usage, and disposal.
Tolulope Medebem, the founder of ASTER Integrated Marketing, educated the students on the stigma often associated with menstruation. She encouraged boys to be supportive of their female peers, friends, sisters, and mothers during their periods. The session also covered the use of pant liners and the importance of proper disposal of sanitary products.
The third session addressed peer pressure, explaining its types, causes, and effects. Students learned how to recognise and cope with peer pressure in various situations.
The fourth session highlighted the essence of community. The speaker discussed the meaning of community, how to cohabitate without struggles, and the importance of looking out for each other regardless of culture, belief, or background.
“So, our corporate social responsibility is in line with SDGS 3 and 4 – Good health | Wellbeing and Quality education. We chose public school because we believe it’s our responsibility (all of us) to ensure that the kids know these things before going out,” Medebem said.
The event came to a close after the distribution of food, drinks, and souvenirs to the students, reminding them to take care of their female friends, sisters, and mothers.
The event also included music and dancing, ensuring the students had fun while learning important life skills.
