Speaking in a statement released on Saturday, the Registrar, Mr Dapo Oke, said the publication alleging that the institution had been shut down was entirely false.
He noted that the management never issued any directive for students to vacate campus and stressed that academic activities were running smoothly.
Oke explained that the misleading report was crafted to sow tension at a time when the university remained peaceful.
He urged the public to disregard the rumour and avoid amplifying unverified information capable of triggering panic.
According to him, neither the Ijagun campus nor Ijebu Ode had witnessed any security breach.
He reaffirmed that the welfare and safety of students remained a top priority for the institution’s leadership, adding that staff and students were continuing their duties without interruption.
In his words, the story linking the university to a supposed bandit invasion claim was not only malicious but a deliberate attempt to undermine confidence in the school’s environment.
He encouraged stakeholders to rely solely on official communication channels for accurate updates.
This clarification came shortly after the Federal Government directed the temporary closure of 41 Federal Unity Colleges in response to rising abductions nationwide.
A circular signed by Binta Abdulkadir, Director of Senior Secondary Education, confirmed the shutdown as a precaution against potential security breaches.
Since the mid-week abduction in Kebbi, several states including Taraba, Kebbi, Kwara and Plateau have implemented temporary school closures as bandit attacks surge across the northern corridor.
