[dropcap]M[/dropcap]akinde Fasunle, an independent broadcaster, who authored and circulated the damaging video tarnishing the name and image of the Celestial Church of Christ, after the arson at C.C.C. Overcomers Parish, Oke Ira Nla, Ajah, Lagos, is presently in police custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department (S.C.I.D.), Panti, Yaba, Lagos.

Recall that the Overcomers Parish at Ajah was razed to the ground by an irate mob after the death of a labourer contracted to evacuate the soak away pit in the church premises. The Shepherd in Charge of the Parish, VSE Aso James also suffered life threatening injuries and lies critically injured in hospital, along with his assistant shepherd and the parish secretary.

Sequel to the arson and attack, Makinde had visited the scene of the crime to do a video recording where he peddled blatant falsehood that the deceased labourer was killed for ritual purposes.

He posted the video on his Facebook page, Fasunle Makinde Descendants thereafter, denigrating the name of the parish shepherd and by extension the name and image of the Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide.

Fasunle responded to the invitation of the police and presented himself for questioning today, June 20, 2023at about 1.00 pm.

He was accompanied by one AVSE Olayinka, who claimed to be a Shepherd of a C.C.C. Parish at Abeokuta.

While responding to questions, Fasunle lied that he is a member of the Celestial Church of Christ. This false claim was immediately debunked by C.C.C.’s Head of Media and Publicity, Superior Evangelist Kayode Ajala, who was also present.

Makinde Fasunle has assured that he would assist the police in the ongoing investigation.

He is still in police custody at the time of filing this report.
