COAS Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to education, pledging continued investment in building a professionally competent and future-ready force

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to building a well-educated, professionally competent, and future-ready force through sustained investment in education.

Oluyede made the pledge on Saturday during the 67th Passing Out Parade of the Nigerian Military School (NMS) in Zaria, Kaduna State.

He was represented at the event by the General Officer Commanding, 1 Division, Maj.-Gen. Mayirenso Saraso.

“In the Nigerian Army, we are sponsoring soldiers to further their studies in reputable civilian universities and colleges nationwide, and ex-NMS boys are among the most outstanding beneficiaries,” Oluyede said.

“This reflects our commitment to building a well-educated, professionally competent, and future-ready Nigerian Army.”

He urged the graduating students to embrace excellence and selfless service as they transition into their military careers, noting that they now officially belong to the Nigerian Army family.

Oluyede encouraged those seeking further military advancement to apply to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), highlighting their advantage from the preliminary training received at NMS.

Reaffirming his leadership philosophy, Oluyede said it is anchored on readiness, operational effectiveness, sound administration, and stakeholder cooperation, with a strong focus on the “Soldier First” concept that prioritises the welfare and morale of personnel.
