A three-member panel, led by Justice Hamma Barka, upheld its previous ruling from 13th November 2024, which recognised Abure’s position as chairman.
In the judgment delivered on Friday, the appellate court confirmed that no other court ruling has overturned its decision, solidifying Abure’s role at the helm of the Labour Party.
The ruling addressed appeals brought by Senator Esther Nenadi Usman, the party’s caretaker committee, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The court clarified that leadership disputes within political parties are not justiciable issues, emphasising that any judicial action taken outside its jurisdiction is null and void.
Consequently, the Federal High Court’s decision of 8th October 2024, delivered by Justice Emeka Nwite, was struck out on the grounds of jurisdictional overreach.
