Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as Portugal beat Armenia 5-0 in World Cup qualifiers, taking his career tally to 942 goals at age 40

Cristiano Ronaldo delivered yet another dazzling performance as Portugal thrashed Armenia 5-0 in Yerevan, keeping their 2026 World Cup qualification bid firmly on track.

The 40-year-old superstar scored twice, extending his career tally to 942 goals across club and country, including 140 international strikes.

Football journalist Fabrizio Romano highlighted the milestone on X, noting that Ronaldo’s pursuit of the mythical 1,000-goal mark is drawing unprecedented global attention.

The match began with a minute’s silence for former Portugal international Jota, who earned 49 caps.

Teammates honoured him with banners and tributes, with João Cancelo imitating Jota’s video game celebration after scoring.

João Félix opened the scoring early before Ronaldo doubled the lead from a Pedro Neto cross. Cancelo’s strike made it 3-0, while Ronaldo’s thunderous long-range effort sealed his brace. Félix later added his second to complete the rout.
