Aliko Dangote commends President Tinubu’s NNPC leadership, stating his refinery’s fight is against major oil marketers, not the new NNPC team, who have been supportive
[dropcap]A[/dropcap]liko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, has publicly praised President Bola Tinubu for assembling a “capable leadership team” at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), while clarifying that his ongoing fight regarding the Dangote Refinery is directed at major oil marketers and traders, not the new NNPC leadership.

Dangote commended the appointments of Mr. Bayo Ojulari as the Group Chief Executive Officer and Mr. Ahmadu Kida as the Non-Executive Chairman of NNPC, stating that he visited the President to express his appreciation for the “formidable and professionally competent team” assembled to elevate NNPC.
According to Dangote, the new NNPC management team brings extensive technical and managerial expertise, crucial for revitalizing Nigeria’s strategic public enterprise.
He believes the team, under Ojulari and Kida, reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to driving reform and innovation in the energy sector.
“We are confident that this team will address systemic challenges, align with the President’s vision of a $1tn economy, and reposition NNPC Limited for operational excellence and long-term sustainability,” Dangote stated.
Addressing recent reports that he is still fighting for the survival of his $20 billion refinery and determined to confront oil sector cabals, Dangote clarified that his remarks were not aimed at the new NNPC leadership.
He emphasized that the NNPC has been supportive in meeting the company’s needs.
Dangote revealed that the “cabals” he referred to are “some major oil marketers and traders who were bent on frustrating the efforts of President Tinubu in revamping the nation’s economy.”
He highlighted that the recent activities and structural reforms by NNPC Limited demonstrate a renewed focus on transparency, efficiency, and accountability.
“We are confident that this team will address systemic challenges, align with the President’s vision of a $1tn economy, and reposition NNPC Limited for operational excellence and long-term sustainability,” said Aliko Dangote.
“The calibre of individuals at the helm, and their deliberate, reform-driven agenda, demonstrate a commitment to fostering a culture of performance and professionalism,” he added.
Dangote expressed confidence that the new NNPC leadership will drive the country’s energy industry to new heights and reaffirmed his group’s commitment to supporting a prosperous, energy-secure Nigeria.
He had previously stated that certain individuals who profited from government-subsidized oil imports were attempting to sabotage the 650,000 barrels per day Dangote Refinery in Lekki, Lagos. “We’re fighting, and the fight is not yet finished.
