Nigerians have reacted with shock and disbelief to rumours claiming that Wunmi, widow of the late singer Mohbad, gave birth two years after his death. The reports emerged shortly after Mohbad’s family reportedly banned Wunmi from using their surname.

Social media responses were swift. Nollywood actor Stanley Ontop expressed astonishment on his Instagram page, urging men to live responsibly, noting that women often move on regardless of circumstances. “Mohbad died in 2023.

Other users shared a range of opinions. One suggested that if the reports were true, they highlighted women’s resilience and assertiveness.

Conversely, some online observers cautioned that the story might be a hoax designed to generate engagement. “I won’t be surprised if it’s later found out that the story of the late Mohbad’s widow, Wunmi, giving birth was a hoax.
