Hon. Akande, a seasoned legislator and respected legal practitioner, died on Wednesday, 30 July 2025. He represented Ojo Constituency I between 2015 and 2023, serving two terms in the Assembly.

In a heartfelt statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Dave Agboola, Speaker Obasa described the death of Hon. Victor Akande as a profound loss not just to the Assembly, but to Lagos State as a whole.

“Hon. Akande was a dedicated and diligent lawmaker who served his constituents with passion and integrity,” Obasa said.

His contributions; especially as Chairman of the House Committee on Justice, Human Rights, Public Petitions, and LASIEC, were invaluable.

The Speaker lauded Akande’s commitment to justice, his insightful approach to lawmaking, and his deep understanding of the legal system. He was known for championing human rights, electoral transparency, and progressive legislative debates.

Obasa noted that Akande’s legal acumen greatly informed key decisions within the Assembly, helping shape policies that directly benefited Lagosians.

“His transition is a painful reminder of the fragility of life. We will remember him for his unwavering commitment to justice and impactful service to Ojo Constituency I and the entire Lagos State,” the Speaker added.

Obasa extended his condolences to the Akande family, close friends, and constituents, praying for strength and peace during their time of mourning. He also pledged the Assembly’s solidarity and enduring respect for the late lawmaker’s legacy.
