Senegal overcame Egypt to win its first Africa Cup of Nations title on Sunday, with Sadio Mane completing the decisive penalty kick in a shootout after missing a penalty in the first half.
The final was tied at 0-0 after extra time, but Liverpool’s Sadio Mane held his nerve in the shootout, which his club won 4-2.
Mane had missed a penalty chance to put Senegal ahead just seven minutes in Yaounde when Egypt goalkeeper Mohamed Abou Gabal saved it.
Egypt was vying for a record-extending ninth title.
