This is the best of time for workers on the payroll of the Lagos State government; the long-awaited salary increased was recently approved by the re-elected executive governor of the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu

The beneficiaries are mainstream civil servants, local government employees and personnel of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

This was confirmed yesterday in circular signed by the Head of Service (HOS), Hakeem Muri-Okunola, who said Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the increment by 20 per cent.

The implementation, the circular said the governor approved the implementation of the increment effective from January 1, 2023.

The circular reads: “Kindly note that the arrears for January 2023 will be paid with March salaries while the arrears for February will be paid with April salaries. This action further demonstrates this administration’s commitment to staff welfare. Public servants are thus enjoined to show more commitment and dedication in the delivery of qualitative service to the citizens of the state.

“Accordingly, all accounting officers are to note the contents of this circular and give it the service-wide publicity it deserves.”

On October 4 last year, Sanwo-Olu announced salary increment and other benefits for the workers when he paid a working visit to the sprawling Alausa State Secretariat complex in Ikeja.
