Don Jazzy defends Itohan after criticism over a private donation, saying her health initiative deserves support, not online attacks
Music executive Michael Collins Ajereh, professionally known as Don Jazzy, on Sunday defended a young woman, Itohan, on social media after she faced criticism over a private donation he made to support her health focused initiative.

The controversy unfolded on X after Itohan shared her Christmas wishes, which included settling personal debts and launching a foundation to assist kidney patients, inspired by the death of her brother from kidney disease.
Don Jazzy responded publicly by asking Itohan to outline her needs, after which she listed her requests.
The exchange later attracted backlash from some social media users, who accused her of greed and alleged that the appeal was a scam.
Michael Collins Ajereh moved to counter the accusations, stating that Itohan had done nothing wrong and insisting that offering help to those in need should not attract hostility.
Addressing claims that he only supports women, Don Jazzy referenced previous donations he had made to other initiatives, including a technology related project, describing the allegations as unfounded.
“Don’t do that. What exactly did she do wrong? I like to help people when I can,” Michael Collins Ajereh wrote, adding that Itohan’s desire to help others was admirable and sincere.
The music executive explained that he took the conversation into private messages to shield Itohan from prolonged criticism and to avoid raising expectations without following through on his support.
Michael Collins Ajereh also questioned why the donation had become a subject of intense public scrutiny, stressing that Itohan was under no obligation to justify the assistance she received.
The debate has since triggered divided reactions online, with some users defending Itohan and praising Don Jazzy’s intervention, while others continued to criticise the manner in which the appeal was presented.
Itohan later confirmed that the donation was being channelled towards supporting dialysis patients, disclosing that N350,000 had already been used to assist two individuals requiring treatment.
