[dropcap]D[/dropcap]r. Shola Odutola, a distinguished Nigerian software engineer, has been awarded the prestigious Excellence in Finance WealthTech Award for his exceptional contributions to the global finance sector.

The award was presented during the 2025 Fintext Awards and Conference, held from February 10 to 11.

The recognition highlights Dr. Odutola’s immense impact on the finance and technology industries, particularly in the areas of fintech and wealth tech.

Upon receiving the award, he expressed deep gratitude and used the occasion to advocate for Nigeria’s technological potential.

“This award is a testament to what Nigeria can achieve if we harness and synergize our diverse capabilities,” Dr. Odutola remarked in a conversation with newsheadline247.

He further called on experts from various fields to collaborate in bringing Nigeria to the forefront of technological innovation, positioning the country as a global leader in the tech sector.

“We must work together to elevate Nigeria’s role in shaping the future of technology worldwide,” he stated.

Dr. Odutola dedicated the award to his faith, his family, and his colleagues, acknowledging their unwavering support throughout his illustrious career.

 

Dr. Odutola’s Career and Achievements

 

Dr. Olushola Odutola is a seasoned software engineer and solutions architect with over two decades of experience in developing full-stack cloud-native and enterprise software solutions.

His expertise spans digital payments (fintech) and buy-side capital markets operations (wealth tech), where he has consistently delivered transformative results.

Dr. Odutola holds a PhD in Management (Information Systems) from Walden University, an MSc in Software Engineering from the University of Liverpool, and an HND in Computer Science from The Federal Polytechnic, Offa.

His commitment to continuous learning is evident in his professional certifications in FinOps, Kubernetes, and enterprise architecture.

 

Leadership and Innovations in Technology

 

Currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer and Engineering Manager at Covenant Visions International Ltd., Dr. Odutola leads the company’s architectural strategies, focusing on aligning technology with business objectives.

Under his leadership, he has significantly expanded the market share of pension wealth management products, enhanced technical productivity, and reduced operational costs through open-source solutions.

Additionally, his efforts in redesigning key digital platforms have led to improved service delivery and supported the company’s growth trajectory.

Before his current role, Dr. Odutola was a Principal Software Engineer and Solutions Architect at eTranzact International PLC.

He played a pivotal role in the company’s transformation from a startup to a publicly listed entity. His contributions included co-designing and implementing groundbreaking solutions, such as the eTranzact Switch, which revolutionized financial transaction processes in Nigeria.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Odutola worked with Sybase (Nigeria) Ltd. (now part of SAP AG), where he developed award-winning enterprise solutions that helped shape the Nigerian technology landscape.

 

A Vision for the Future

 

Dr. Odutola’s recognition is a reminder of the significant role Nigerian professionals play in global technological advancement.
