The governor gave the assurance during a political rally held at Okaijesan Town Hall in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area.
The event was organised to welcome thousands of defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The large turnout and high-profile defections were hailed as a new chapter for the party in Edo State.
Governor Okpebholo described the APC as an inclusive political family open to all citizens who believe in the state’s progress.
He commended the defectors for embracing what he called the only path to Edo’s prosperity.
According to him, their decision to join the APC demonstrates that the opposition PDP has lost political relevance in his constituency and beyond.
The governor said the choice made by the new members was not born out of pressure or convenience but out of belief in the work being done across the state.
He explained that many of them had previously been approached, but only now did they decide to join, having seen tangible results from the administration’s programmes.
Okpebholo used the platform to thank prominent political returnees, including former Edo State APC Chairman, Anselm Ojezua.
He described Ojezua’s return as a strong signal that the APC is regaining its foothold in Edo. Other key figures welcomed back into the fold include former council chairmen, councillors, state lawmakers, and influential PDP leaders.
“In 2027, we will reward President Tinubu’s love for Edo with 2.5 million votes. The people have spoken through their actions.
Edo is APC, and APC is the vehicle of our development under the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he stated during his speech.
Governor Okpebholo pledged to remain committed to the mandate given to him by the people of Edo.
He assured citizens that he would not betray their trust and would continue to pursue meaningful development projects that touch lives across all local government areas.
Also speaking at the event, the leader of the APC in Edo Central Senatorial District, Major General Cecil Esekhaigbe (rtd.), called on new members to engage fully in the work of rebuilding Edo.
He described the APC as a party where fairness and shared vision guide every action. “Join this movement of peace and purpose. Together, we will move Edo forward,” he encouraged.
With this public declaration of support for President Tinubu’s second term and the mass defection to the APC, the political landscape in Edo appears to be shifting.
