EFCC arraigns Ene Queen Bamaiyi for alleged ₦240m fraud. Court grants ₦30m bail with strict conditions; trial adjourned to December 2025
The EFCC arraigns Ene Queen Bamaiyi before the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Apo, Abuja, on Thursday, October 2, 2025, over alleged fraud involving ₦240.5 million.

Bamaiyi was accused of dishonestly converting ₦124 million out of ₦240.5 million entrusted to her by one Bright Okubo for foreign exchange conversion. She pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge before Justice A.A. Halilu.
According to the EFCC, the alleged act contravenes Section 311 of the Penal Code and is punishable under Section 312.
Prosecution counsel, Joshua Saidi, told the court he would present five witnesses to establish the case. Defence counsel, M.A. Attah, SAN, prayed for bail, citing Bamaiyi’s status as a single mother of a two-year-old child.
Justice Halilu granted bail in the sum of ₦30 million with two sureties not below Grade Level 14 in the civil service.
He also ordered her to deposit her passport with the EFCC and remanded her in Suleja Correctional Centre until bail conditions are met.

The matter was adjourned to December 2 and 3, 2025, for trial.
