Nigeria’s Federal Government has declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays for Eid-ul-Adha celebrations, urging Muslims to pray for national peace and prosperity
The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebrations.

The announcement was made on Monday, June 2, 2025, by the Minister of Interior, Olbunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government. The declaration was contained in a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.
Minister Tunji-Ojo extended his felicitations to all Muslim Ummah, both at home and in the Diaspora, on this significant occasion.
He urged the Muslim faithful to continue to embody the spirit of sacrifice and faith, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him).
The Minister urged all Nigerians to join hands with the present administration in its efforts to restore the glory of Nigeria as a great nation.
Furthermore, he called upon them to utilise this period to offer prayers for a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.
The Minister also took the opportunity to reassure Nigerians that “the people-oriented reforms and initiatives carried out, in furtherance of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s Administration, is to restore Nigeria on the path of progress.”

Concluding the statement, Tunji-Ojo wished the Muslim Ummah a happy Eid-ul-Adha celebration and implored all Nigerians to unite with the current administration in its ongoing efforts to restore Nigeria’s glory as a great nation.
