‘The boy who had a dream’, those were the chants, the cheers that echoed late in Stamford bridge as the vociferous supporters of Chelsea FC celebrated Mason Mount who ran riot after finding the back of the net three times on Saturday afternoon.
Chelsea welcomed The Canaries to Stamford bridge in a tie that would see them retain the top spot at the table log ahead of Manchester City and Liverpool game fixtures.
Although Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner were out of the squad due to injury suffered during the weekend’s Champions League fixture which then forced Thomas Tuchel to opt for Hudson Odoi in replacement of Werner, while Kai Harvetz stood in place of Lukaku it didn’t affect the side’s ruthlessness.
Few minutes after kick-off Mason Mount found the back of the net from a Jorginho pass with a low powerful shot that got away from Norwich’s goalkeeper Tim Krul as Chelsea showed resolute in gaining all three points at their home stadium.
A goal each from Callum Hudson Odoi, Reece James, Ben Chilwell between those of Mason Mount’s will see Chelsea complete a 7 goal thriller over Norwich City along with a own goal coming from the away side.
Although Chelsea were not threatened at the back Edouard Mendy had to make a fine block to ensure his side got away with a clean sheet early in the second half.
The win extends Chelsea stay at the top of the Premier League table with four points gap over second placed Liverpool.
