Nollywood actress and filmmaker Eniola Ajao has unveiled the motives behind awarding controversial personality Bobrisky the title of “Best Dressed Female” at the recent premiere of her film, ‘Ajakaju’.

The decision to honor Bobrisky with the award ignited a storm of controversies over the weekend, prompting discussions and criticisms from various quarters.

During a recent interview with Arise TV, Ajao clarified that the award was orchestrated as a deliberate stunt to generate attention for the film.

Ajao revealed that her team devised the idea to ensure the film received widespread attention. Consequently, they strategically opted to present the Best Dressed Female award to Bobrisky, well-known for his controversial persona.

Ajao urged Nigerians not to blame Femi Adebayo, who simply presented the award and was not involved in the judging process.

She explained, “It was all in jest. We wanted to add an element of fun and surprise to the premiere, to ensure it stayed in people’s minds. So, we decided to give the Best Dressed Female award to Bobrisky, knowing his controversial nature would spark conversations. Despite some backlash, it was all part of our plan to create buzz around the movie. Femi Adebayo, who presented the award, should not be criticized as it was not his idea, and he had no role in the judging process. Let’s not unfairly blame him.”
