The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has demanded that the embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Abba Kyari, be handed over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) after being charged with participation in a fraud investigation (FBI).

Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, the group’s spokesperson, was recently captured on camera pleading for the extradition of the suspended DCP. CNG and other northern parties had already risen in defense of Abba Kyari. Northern organizations urged a reconsideration of Kyari’s suspension and the transfer of his case to the Nigeria Intelligence Agency at a meeting in Kaduna (NIA). On a leaked tape, Suleiman said Abba Kyari should go to the United States to prove his innocence, saying that no amount of protests from some quarters would deter the US from prosecuting the embattled police chief.
