The Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has described as untrue, the rumour making the round that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the sum of 30,000 as relief fund for every citizen.

According to the information, the purpose of the fund was to cushion the effect of state at home order announced by some state governments, as well as Federal Government as part of measures to contain the ravaging Coronavirus pandemic .

In a swift reaction, Mr Segun Adeyemi, the Special Adviser to the Honourable Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in a telephone interview with the media on Saturday said such information was a product of fake news.

He added that the Federal Government has not announced, neither released any fund to Nigerians as relief fund in the face of the pandemic.

Adeyemi, therefore, warned Nigerians to be wary of antics by some unscrupulous individuals to swindle unsuspecting Nigerians of their hard earned resources.

He said : ” It is not true, the Federal Government has not released any money to that effect , it is good that you called to confirm, that it is the right thing to do , thank you my brother.

”You know the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, during the question and answer session on Wednesday at a press conference said such information is fake news, that the Federal Government has not released any relief fund, thanks you”, Adeyemi resorted.
