Speaking to the court, Mrs Ibrahim expressed her desire to remain in the marriage she has shared with Mr Musbau for 16 years.
“I have been married to my husband for 16 years and I want to remain in this marriage,” she told the judge.
Her husband, Mr Musbau, had earlier petitioned the court for divorce on the grounds of “lack of love and affection.”
Presiding judge Toyin Aluko referred to provisions in the Holy Quran, explaining that Almighty Allah permits both divorce and settlement.
The judge advised Mrs Ibrahim to make every effort to reconcile and settle any misunderstandings between the couple.
