Francis Ngannou, the Cameroonian-born UFC fighter turned boxer, recently shared his insights from his boxing match against Anthony Joshua in an interview with Ariel Helwani on “The MMA Hour”
When asked about his expectations versus the reality of facing AJ, Ngannou recounted, “I vividly recall the initial punch from Anthony Joshua, which wasn’t particularly forceful. However, subsequent punches left me disoriented, and I couldn’t recollect much thereafter.”
Regarding his viewing habits of his own fights, Ngannou revealed, “I typically record my fights mentally and have a clear memory of every move. However, I made an exception for the fight with Anthony Joshua, watching it multiple times to analyze and comprehend the events. Surprisingly, I have yet to watch my bout with Fury, often only catching glimpses of the highlights.”
Reflecting on a reassuring moment during the match, Ngannou remarked, “One comforting moment amidst the chaos was when I regained consciousness in the ring and spotted the doctor attempting to communicate with me. Glancing to the side, I saw my little sister beside the cage, which signaled to me that something had gone amiss.”
