The agency saddled with such inspection in the state is known as Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) and is headed by Arc. Gbolahan Owodunni Oki.
In the video shared by an event MC, STEVE ‘MUNNA, it was claimed the incident happened in Ogudu GRA area of Lagos.
“This happened this morning in Ogudu GRA. My neighbours who were trying to set their newly rented place were assaulted by the Lagos state building inspection team,” he wrote.
In his reaction, the governorship candidate of Labour Party in the last election, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, expressed his displeasure at such unprofessional act and called on relevant authorities to properly investigate the incident and punish anyone found culpable.
“Absolutely disgusted and outraged by the despicable actions of the head of a government agency and his cronies, allegedly Harassing a woman and viciously beating up her husband. This is beyond reprehensible. We demand a thorough and unbiased investigation to ascertain the facts of the matter.
“If the appropriate authorities fail to take action within 48 hours, i have notified my lawyers to advise on next steps to seek justice for this innocent woman who has been violated and demeaned by those who were elected and appoint to serve,” Rhodes-Vivour wrote.
LASBCA is an agency of government set up to ensure that basic minimum standards are maintained in building construction and renovation of existing and new buildings to be safe, healthy, accessible and habitable for present and future generations.
