Geobek joins 2025 Grammy Academy, champions African music

Nigerian music executive George Beke (Geobek) joins the 2025 Grammy Recording Academy Class, highlighting his role in elevating African music on the global stage

Nigerian music executive George Beke, popularly known as Geobek, has been officially inducted into the 2025 New Member Class of the Recording Academy the organization responsible for the Grammy Awards.

This recognition honors Geobek’s global contributions to music, especially his efforts in promoting African soundscapes and talent on the world stage.

Through his company, Geobek Standard, he has worked tirelessly to spotlight Afrobeats, foster cross-border collaborations, and elevate rising African artists into global visibility.

“It is an immense honor and privilege to be invited to join the Recording Academy,” Geobek said.

“This recognition is not just for me, but for the countless African artists, producers, and creatives who are tirelessly pushing boundaries and enriching the global music tapestry.”

The Recording Academy praised his dedication to music innovation and cultural representation.

“His extensive experience, keen ear for talent, and dedication to cultural exchange make him an invaluable addition to our community,” a spokesperson for the Academy shared.

By joining the Recording Academy, Geobek now holds the right to vote in the Grammy Awards, submit entries for consideration, and help shape the future of the global music industry.

He joins other notable Nigerians previously inducted into the Recording Academy, including Niniola, Nikki Laoye, Dolapo Amusat, and Olumide Akinlolu.

Geobek also reiterated his mission to continue advocating for African creatives:

“I am committed to leveraging this platform to further amplify diverse voices and ensure that African music continues to receive the global recognition it deserves.”
