Once again, Globacom has reaffirmed its powerful commitment to promoting Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and boosting tourism in Anambra State by sponsoring the Ofala Festival.

The telecom giant confirmed its sponsorship of the 2025 Ofala Festival in Onitsha, while renewing its support for another three years.

The two-day festival, taking place on 17 and 18 October, is a traditional event hosted by His Royal Majesty, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha.

At a recent press conference held at the Obi’s Palace, Globacom emphasised its longstanding support for the festival, which began in 2011.

The company highlighted its belief in the festival’s ability to generate employment, drive revenue, and strengthen cultural pride.

The 2025 festival will feature key highlights such as the Iru Ofala and Azu Ofala ceremonies, alongside other cultural and community events.

Globacom is also focused on improving customer experience by rolling out upgraded 4G-LTE networks in the South East region, ensuring enhanced voice and data services for its subscribers.

In addition, the company announced new product offerings like Talkmasta, which provides extra talk time and data at no extra cost, and the Welcome Bonus package designed to reward new customers.

Globacom stated that its sponsorship aligns with broader economic trends.

Nigeria’s tourism sector is expected to contribute ₦11.2 trillion to GDP in 2025, reflecting a strong recovery and growth that underscores culture and tourism as vital economic drivers.

Mr Nnaemeka Maduegbuna, Chairman of the Strategic Marketing and Communications Committee, detailed the festival’s extensive programme, including the annual lecture, art exhibitions, youth carnival, medical outreach, and a royal banquet, all designed to celebrate the vibrant culture of Onitsha.

Security and visitor comfort have been prioritised to ensure a memorable and safe celebration for all.
