Hon Longay accuses Gov Dapo Abiodun of alleged hostile moves against Otunba Gbenga Daniel in Ogun East politics
Hon Longay, former Ogun State House of Assembly member and All Progressives Congress leader in Sagamu Local Government, has accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of Abiodun alleged hostile moves against Senator Gbenga Daniel in a growing political dispute within the ruling party.
Hon Longay said the governor’s actions had deepened tension ahead of future elections in the Ogun East Senatorial District.
The disagreement stems from Prince Abiodun’s reported ambition to succeed Senator Daniel at the National Assembly after the senator completes his current term.
According to Hon Longay, this ambition has triggered a series of actions that he described as targeted attempts to undermine the former governor’s political influence in the district.
He cited the recent sealing of the Omo Ilu Foundation Complex, barely a day before the BATOGD Movement Empowerment programme.
The programme formed part of Senator Daniel’s midterm assessment tour across all local government areas in the district to brief constituents on national policies being implemented by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Hon Longay said the timing of the sealing suggested an attempt to frustrate the senator’s outreach efforts; sealed on a Saturday, November 29, 2025, just a day before the event on Sunday, November 30.
In an audio message made available to Freelanews, Hon Longay argued that the more Governor Abiodun tried to obstruct Senator Daniel, the more he inadvertently strengthened the senator’s standing among supporters.
He described the governor’s actions as counterproductive and warned that the political climate could worsen if the hostilities continued.
Hon Longay further claimed that attempts to disrupt the BATOGD Movement amounted to an escalation of long-running disagreements involving President Tinubu, recalling that Prince Abiodun’s support for the president during the 2023 election had been a subject of controversy.

He urged the governor to reconsider the approach, noting that persistent conflict could damage party unity in the state.
He added that grassroots supporters were increasingly concerned about what they viewed as avoidable political tension.
