Track express and World Champion, Tobi Amusan proved she is still the best sprint hurdler in the world after storming home first in 12.33 to win a hat-trick of Diamond League 100m titles Sunday night in Oregon, USA.

The Nigerian, 26, has thus become the second athlete in Diamond League history after Dawn Nelson-Harper to win three Diamond League titles three consecutive times.

Amusan has now risen from the emotional trauma she went through following her provisional suspension for three whereabout failures in July and clearance on the eve of the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, which cost her the chance to successfully defend her world 100m hurdles title, to end her season on a high.

The world record holder first made history in 2021 when she ran a then 12.42 African record to become the first Nigerian to win a Diamond League title.

She successfully defended her title the following year, running a new 12.29 Weltklasse meeting record in Zurich, Switzerland.

The Nigerian returned to the track where she set the 100m hurdles world record and win Nigeria’s outdoor title on Sunday to make history again.
