Ibadan fire outbreak destroys six room bungalow in Ifedapo Estate as Oyo Fire Service confirms losses worth millions of naira
A devastating Ibadan fire outbreak has destroyed a six room residential bungalow at Block D5 Ifedapo Estate in the Amuloko area of Ibadan Oyo State causing property losses estimated at millions of naira.

The incident was confirmed on Saturday by the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency Mr Maroof Akinwande in a statement made available to journalists.
According to Akinwande the fire occurred on Friday after the agency received a distress call at exactly 2.53 pm from a resident identified as Odetunde.
He said firefighters led by Assistant Chief Fire Superintendent Amoo were immediately dispatched to the scene following the alert.
Akinwande said that upon arrival officers discovered the six room bungalow fully engulfed by fire but acted swiftly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings.
He confirmed that no lives were lost in the Ibadan fire outbreak adding that the inferno was traced to a domestic gas cylinder that was left unattended before exploding and spreading flames across the building.
According to him properties worth millions of naira were destroyed before the fire was successfully brought under control.
The fire service boss used the opportunity to urge residents to exercise caution when handling gas appliances and other flammable materials within their homes.
He also appealed to members of the public to promptly contact emergency services and provide accurate location details whenever incidents occur to enable faster response.
Meanwhile Akinwande recalled that Oyo State recorded about 246 fire incidents in 2025 noting that timely interventions by firefighters saved 42 lives across the state during the period.
He added that rescue operations also led to the recovery of 30 bodies from various incidents within the year.
Providing further insight he said January recorded 29 cases February 27 March 22 April 24 May 24 June 17 July 15 August 14 September 24 October 13 November 13 and December 21.

The latest Ibadan fire outbreak has renewed calls for heightened fire safety awareness as authorities continue efforts to reduce preventable incidents across Oyo State.
