Illegal estates in Lagos uncovered by government; 176 sites face a 21-day ultimatum to comply with planning laws or risk sealing and demolition

Illegal estate in Lagos have come under serious scrutiny as the Lagos State Government uncovered 176 unauthorized real estate projects across key districts including Eti-Osa, Ajah, Ibeju-Lekki, and Epe.

The Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, through a statement issued by its Director of Public Affairs, Mukaila Sanusi, revealed that these estates failed to secure proper layout approvals as mandated by state law.

This bold move, which targets major developers like Adron Homes in Elerangbe and Prime Water View Garden in Ikate-Elegushi, aligns with Governor Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda for a smart and resilient city.

Permanent Secretary Oluwole Sotire stated that these developments directly oppose Lagos’ urban planning goals.

The government has issued a 21-day ultimatum for developers to submit all required documentation or face sanctions, including sealing or demolition.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to legal and sustainable urban growth, emphasizing that every estate must comply with regulatory standards to support the state’s future.
