In a community in Plateau state, three people were kidnapped by gunmen.

On Wednesday night, the victims were kidnapped in Ban village, which is located behind the Plateau State Polytechnic.

Plateau police spokesperson Ubah Ogaba confirmed that one suspect has been apprehended in connection with the kidnapping, and police officers are already on the lookout for the other suspects in order to save the victims.

“The Plateau state police command is aware of the kidnap incident in Ban village behind Plateau State Polytechnic Heipang on the 12/01/2022 at about 20:05hrs where three persons were abducted,” he said.

“Immediately the report was received, a team of policemen of the command and OPSH raced to the scene where one suspect was arrested.

“Meantime, efforts are ongoing to rescue the kidnapped victims and arrest other perpetrators of the act.”

The incident is the latest in a series of attacks on residents of the state.

The abduction occurred a day after 18 people were reportedly killed in an attack on Ancha community in Bassa LGA of the state.

The attackers who invaded the neighbourhood on Tuesday night also set fire to several houses.

The wife of Silas Vem, deputy chief of staff to Sonny Tyoden, deputy governor of Plateau, was abducted by gunmen on Sunday.

She was reportedly kidnapped near her residence in Jos, the state capital.
