This new marketplace, Oja Oba, set to operate every five days, lies close to the palace of the Onitoomu of Ito-Omu Ancient Town, His Royal Majesty, Oba Taiwo Yusuff Gbadamosi.
The market launch was driven by the Ito-Omu Community Development Board, led by Olori Ololade Oshin, who has championed the project and other developmental efforts in the community.
According to Olori Oshin, previous attempts to establish a marketplace had repeatedly stalled, but with determination and community support, the vision has now become a reality.
“I’m very happy as this is a dream come true,” Olori Oshin remarked.
“From reports I’ve heard, there were several attempts to establish a market here, but it remained an unfulfilled dream. When I raised the issue again, I was confident we could achieve it. With the support of His Royal Majesty, Oba Gbadamosi, and the community women, we now proudly have our own market.”
Oba Taiwo Yusuff Gbadamosi expressed optimism about the market’s potential while praying for the market’s prosperity, noting that it serves as a foundation for future developmental initiatives for the community.
“With the calibre of people in the board, this market is only the beginning,” he stated.
