It is now news that on Tuesday this week, one of the opposition parties in the country, People’s Democratic Party, PDP, had a meeting of a select committee of the National Working Committee at the party’s secretariat.
But what is news was the snide remarks thrown to the former Deputy National Chairman of the party, Bode George, by the former governorship candidate of the party in Lagos, Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, over the former’s alleged anti-party activities.

According to an insider, Jandor was uncomfortable over the presence of Chief George at such meeting and couldn’t keep it to himself. He directed his questions at the Acting National Chairman of the party, Umar Damagun.
“Jandor, upon sighting Chief Bode George and Dr (Abimbola) Ogunkelu at the NWC select meeting in Wadata Plaza in Abuja, asked the Acting Chairman and NWC members a very germane question that kept tongue wagging.
“He said, “Mr Acting Chairman sir, I know majority of the people here are founding fathers of this party, and some of us who are toddlers in the party would like to be guided, so we want to ask, is anti-party a way of life and normal practice in this party? Can we also go on National TV under whatever guise, to de-market the party, speak ill of our presidential candidate, and also mobilise people to work against all the party candidates openly, including the presidential candidate, and still be given a red carpet reception and a front roll seat during party stakeholder’s meeting of this nature?
“Or is it only the Elder-statemen, Party Chairmen and BOT members that can get away with such murder?” the source said.
Immediately, all eyes were allegedly turned in the direction of the guilty ones and all heads shook pitifully.
Meanwhile, the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, his running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa, as well as aggrieved members of the Integrity group led by former governor Nyesom Wike were all missing at the meeting.
PDP’s National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, said the meeting was called to douse tension and kickstart reconciliation within the party in the aftermath of the election.
He said its members contributed to the outcome of the 2023 general elections and should be wary of pointing fingers at others.
