Head of Service Of The Federation, Dr. (Mrs.) Folasade Yemi-Esan has called on civil servants to extend hands of fellowship to the poor within their neighborhood as a way of supporting government’s efforts at cushioning the effects of the lockdown in major parts the country as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic ravaging the world including Nigeria.
Yemi-Esan stated this while reacting to a question on why the federal government left out civil servants in the palliatives during an interactive online meeting held by the Head Of Service and some 500 Public Servants.
She noted that the palliatives were not for civil servants but for the poor of the society.
“Since as government employees, we already have means of livelihood. The food stimuli is to help those whose means of livelihood were affected by the lockdown,” she said.
She continued by urging public servants to look for the less privileged around them to lend a helping hand during the lockdown.
Earlier, the HoS has called on public servants to make the best use of the lockdown and stay-at-home directive of the Federal Government which was issued as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic to reflect on the services they provide.
“Use this opportunity to come up with innovative ideas that would help advance the service, while also engaging in self development,” she advised.
Yemi-Esan told the public servants that human’s ability to transcend its limits are part of what define its resilience and existence as a human race.
She, therefore, highlighted several ways public servants can improve on themselves through e-learning.
