Phil Foden scored twice, while Erling Haaland found the net against his former club, underlining City’s dominance in Europe.
City, unbeaten in their opening four group-stage matches, moved up to fourth in the table with the victory, strengthening their chances of automatic qualification for the last 16.
Dortmund started brightly under Nico Kovac but quickly lost control as Manchester City scored twice in seven first-half minutes.
Foden opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a composed finish after seeing his earlier attempts blocked, marking his first Champions League goal in exactly a year.
City continued to pressure, and Haaland extended the lead in the 29th minute, converting a cutback from Jeremy Doku.
The Norwegian striker’s goal marked his fifth consecutive Champions League goal, making him the first player to achieve this feat for three different clubs – RB Salzburg, Dortmund, and now Manchester City.
The hosts kept Dortmund on the back foot, with goalkeeper Gregor Kobel forced into multiple saves, including a thunderous drive from Tijjani Reijnders.
After the restart, Foden added a second goal in the 57th minute, curling home a brilliant strike to secure his brace.
Dortmund managed a consolation through Waldemar Anton late in the game, but substitute Rayan Cherki restored City’s three-goal advantage in stoppage time with a fine solo run and finish.
