Touré, who previously played for both Arsenal and City, impressed during his time as assistant lead coach for the U18s.
He helped guide the team to the Premier League U18 North title and the FA Youth Cup final. Despite losing both finals to Aston Villa, Touré’s impact on the youth setup was widely praised.
City’s Director of Football, Hugo Viana, confirmed the appointment in a statement released on Tuesday. “We’re delighted to permanently add Kolo to our first-team coaching staff.
His knowledge of the Club and his elite experience make him a perfect fit,” Viana said.
Touré has also held coaching roles with the Ivory Coast national team, Celtic, and Leicester City under Brendan Rodgers. Most recently, he managed Wigan Athletic before returning to City in a developmental role.
Touré now steps up to work full-time with Guardiola, Pep Lijnders, and James French. His return to the club marks another chapter in his connection with City, where he won the Premier League as a player.
