Manchester United capitalised on Chelsea’s early setback when goalkeeper Robert Sánchez was shown a red card in the fourth minute for a reckless challenge on Bryan Mbeumo.

Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring in the 14th minute, followed by Casemiro doubling the advantage in the 37th minute.
Drama intensified just before halftime when Casemiro was also sent off, leaving both sides with ten players.
